More often there are items which you bid on and nobody offers anything higher than your amount what you bid for it, ultimately you win the auction. Once it happens, the price you offer is the price you have to pay to get that product.

An electronic bid on EBay is like a gamble. But you should be wise and smart to make the best out of it. There are some techniques I would like to share with you about how you can win a bid on EBay to your advantage.

1. Identify what you want to purchase:

The first thing you must to do is identify the product you want to purchase. It can be a smart phone,  PC and laptop ,  or large item like sports equipment or machine for your fitness and exercise routine, you should start looking for it through the search engine of EBay or by selecting the proper category of the item you are looking for. One of the best things that will help you identify the item you want to buy is reading about its features, conditions and characteristics.

For instance, if the mobile phone you are looking is Black Berry Pearl, you should see if the condition of this item is new, used or refurbished. Also you must determine if this mobile phone is presented as “Buy it now” or a typical “Auction”. If the product seller doesn’t accept your bid don’t waste your time just move on to another.

The most effective way to see items that are offered in a bid through EBay is by selecting one of the three tabs that appear in the upper page of EBay (All items, Auction only and Buy it now only). You should select the second one (Auction only) and it will help you view only the items that are offered by merchants as bids.

2. Evaluate the demand density of the item:

It is very important to evaluate what I call it as “the demand density”. The demand density of an item is just determined by how popular a product is or the service. You need to check for the demand of the product on the internet. For instance, trying to purchase cufflinks for your new shirt is not the same as buying a personal computer.

When you attempt to buy cufflinks probably it will be easier than buying a new PC and laptop because the density of people trying to get a notebook is extremely higher than the quantity of people looking for a cufflinks on EBay. This is why it is very important to determine the demand of a certain product.

3. Determine the time-left for the auction to end:

One of the most common mistakes of purchasers that are looking for goods and services at “Auction only” is that they start offering a very high bid when the time left is about 5 or 6 days. It is not a good idea to hurry in that case. The smarter decision in offering a higher bid for the item you are interested is in the last moments of the bid.

An important tool that will help you to determine quickly as to which are the bids that are about to finish, is by making a click on sort by and then select in time, ending soonest. Once you do that, you have the time left of the item displayed on the page. If the time remaining for the bid is low, then more number of people would offer a higher amount for that item. The critical time to win a bid is in the last seconds of the auction.
